This
event takes place every two years, This time it was held in the province
of Pyong Chang from July 22 through 29 of 2004; same site chosen for the
winter Olimpic Games of 2010.
Pyong Chang is a beautiful Corean province, with beautiful sights decorated
with moutains of different sizes that embrace one another, fill with foliage
of different bright tones of green and short trees that look like pines
with long thin trunks, The view is enhanced with beautiful waterfalls, rivers
with rounds stones, (that appear all over the sight) rice and vegetable
plantations, pagodas and colorful budist temples. With all these beauty
surrounding me, I was able to understand the origin of inspiration for Yyun
Sun-Do rhymes (1587-1671) and the exiting Corean war Stories of battles
among the mountains; (beautiful sight but hostil for the one who does not
know his way around ) where Chinese and Japanese soldiers were defeated
by a bounch of brave Corean warriors.
This province is provided with beautiful nature and roads with lots of curves
that take you everywhere, we visited a near beach, wuelgunj temple for traditional
meditation, gangwon museum and the caves of Shingihwansun and Hwa Am; This
beautiful caves have underground rivers and waterfalls.
The elegant oficial hotel Gangwonland is surrounded by a wonderful sight.
There was a casino and a lot of fun things to do, the food was excellent,
we felt like kings with all this comfort provided bye the World Haidong
Gumdo Federation preside by Grand Master Jeong Ho Kim.

SEMINAR
We arrived one day after de seminar started, so we did not arrive on
time for the Gumbup seminar, but on the second day we had a great surprise
waiting for us, since for some of us it was the first time to hold in
our hands a real sword, which was a different experience, now it was time
to take the theory to practice.
From the place were I was sitting waiting for my turn, I could see my
friends in action, it was wonderful to see the movement previous to cutting
and all of them in chuchunse position where you could see all the swords
sparkling over the students head, my heart was bumping so hard and when
my turn came and I took the sword in my hands, It was a great feeling,
then I try several times to cut my bamboo and I could not, one time I
even turn it over with the support I could hit it hard but I could not
cut it, until suddenly I did, it was my reward for the day. We practiced
with rice straw packs I can almost smell it which was a different sensation
to the cut.
The team had a great time and we learn a lot in this two weeks it was
a great experience.
We are very greatful to our Master Yang Tae Kim for all his support and
for being there always for us.
